Red Onion Bhajis and Garlic Raita Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 large red onions
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chickpea flour
- 1/2 cup water
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Peel and slice the onions thinly.

- Slowly mix in the water until you get a thick batter. Add more water if necessary.
- Add the sliced onions to the batter and mix until all onions are coated in the batter.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over high heat.
- Use a spoon to drop tablespoon sized scoops of the onion mixture into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the bhajis from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Garlic Raita Recipe:
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- Chopped cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, garlic, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder, and chili powder. Mix well.
- Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- When serving, garnish with chopped cilantro if desired.
