Tiramisu – Treat


Tiramisu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pound mascarpone cheese
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until well combined.
  2. Add the milk and whisk again.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon. Do not let it boil.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form.
  6. Add the mascarpone cheese and beat until smooth and creamy.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the coffee and rum together.
  8. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish.
  9. Spoon half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and spread it evenly.
  10. Repeat with another layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  11. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours but preferably overnight.
  12. When ready to serve, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder.

Serving Suggestions:

Tiramisu is best served chilled. For a special touch, garnish with chocolate shavings or whipped cream. Enjoy this decadent treat with a cup of coffee or espresso for the perfect end to any meal.
